4,000 turn out for Sterling Mills' first music gig
Sterling Mills, the outlet shopping village which sells famous brand names at up to 70% off, has hosted, (Saturday, 13 October), what is thought to be one of the biggest music concerts in the area with Scotland's Jock ‘n' Roll pipe band, The Red Hot Chilli Pipers and former X-Factor finalist Chico, performing.
The event, which saw nearly 4,000 people flock to the outlet shopping village, was a roaring success, as people started to arrive at 10am, getting as close to the stage as possible.
Paul Sutton, retail operations director said:
“What a great day for Sterling Mills and the people that attended.
“The rain stayed away, the acts were on great form with a few surprises and everyone had a great day out. “
Real Radio DJ Paul Harper hosted the event, encouraging visitors to go to the shops in the mall, as competitions had been organised in-store especially for the event. There was something for everyone, as there were face painters and a balloon artist who entertained the younger audience in between acts.
X-Factor's smoothie Chico said of the day:
“I love the Scottish people, they are fun and proud and like me, know how to have a good time. By far my most favourite place to perform. The Scots, I love them.”
The Red Hot Chilli Pipers added:
“We were all really excited about coming to Sterling Mills and meeting lots of Chilli fans and supporters.
“The band has a hectic schedule over the next few months with gigs in Europe and the States, so it was really important to us that our home supporters got a chance to see the band before we head off. We've also been putting the finishing touches to our new album, which is due for release in November.
“We managed to slip a few wee surprises into the programme on Saturday and they seemed to go down very well.
“Thanks to everyone at Sterling Mills for looking after us so well and to all our fans and supporters for making such a great experience for us. Let's hope we can come back and do it again soon.'
